The Gabriola Ecumenical Society is excited to announce that Lama Losang Samten will return to lead a meditation retreat on Gabriola at the Net Loft from Friday, June 21 to Sunday, June 23,. He has been leading retreats here since 2016.

Lama Losang has inspired many students through his deep connection to the wise Mother deity practices. During last year’s retreat he completed the intricate and beautiful 21 Tara Mandala. This year he will focus on two dramatically contrasting female deities, the White Tara and Palden Llamo.

The White Tara represents that part of us that can break through barriers of self criticism to access the wisdom of our emotions. A symbol of longevity, she embodies the ability to calm our disturbances that otherwise lead to negative imprints and illness. Lama Losang will explore with us how White Tara practices help us train our minds to experience Her as an emanation of all positive qualities that enhance a long and fulfilling life.

Palden Llamo, on the other hand, is a fierce and no-nonsense emanation of Mother Tara. She is the dynamic protector who leads us directly to our own innate wisdom. Lama Losang will guide us into practices that cultivate a deeper appreciation of Her strengths that are essential to deepen our spiritual unfolding

This retreat will be an opportunity for seasoned students as well as newcomers to connect with the vibrant community that has formed around Losang’s teachings here on the island. The suggested donation is $280, and we do have a sliding scale and volunteer possibilities. Please know everyone is welcome and may donate what they can.

Note:  As of yet, meals are not available for the retreat.  It it recommended that you bring your own lunch for both Saturday and Sunday.

If you would like to volunteer to make muffins or cookies for the tea breaks, let us know.
