SUMMARY:Samhain Spiral Dance: A Public Ritual Honouring Our Ancestors
DESCRIPTION:\n\nSamhain is the final harvest festival in the Celtic Wheel o
f the Year.  In villages not so long past\, the folk had completed their
harvest and were prepared for the coming dark season -- they had time now
to honour and celebrate their dead. This point between the light and the d
ark was the Celtic New Year -- a time of thin veils between the realms and
the witch's Auld Lang Syne.  And so on this night\, we remember our ance
stors – those of our own blood\, those who have died in service to truth
\, and those who have no others to remember them.\n\nAs the Earth dies bac
k for the coming winter\, the Samhain Goddess is the Crone\, the Wise One\
, the aspect of the Goddess who teaches us to let go when we need to chang
e and grow.  In letting go\, we make room for something new.  She is oft
en depicted as the Goddess of war and death as well as the Goddess of new
births.  She of a Thousand Names across cultures has been known as  Morr
 igan\, Cerridwen\, Hekate\, Kali\, Erishkagel\, Baba Yaga\, and Grandmothe
r Spider among many more.  This is a time to remove obstacles\, leaving r
oom for your own new works this coming dark season.  This is a night of
death and rebirth\, hope and new beginnings\, remembrance and change.\n\nI
n our ritual this year\, we will welcome the Elements and the Goddess.  W
e will create altars and give honour to our long Beloved Dead and our Rece
nt Dead.  We will take a drummed trance journey to the Shining Isle to da
nce with our ancestors.  We will raise our energy with a Spiral Dance and
release our intentions to the World.  Come prepared to move -- physicall
y and spiritually.\n\nTime:  Doors open at 6:30 pm ... Doors close at 7:0
0 pm  - no entry after 7pm.\nAge:  12 years and better\nBring: Photos of
Beloved Dead\, Water Bottle\, Blanket for sitting\nWear:  Costumes welco
