This year, I was lucky enough to jump aboard Gertie for the Gabriola Ecumenical Society’s 21st annual Christmas caroling event. The evening was full of cheer from the beginning, where we met at Garden Homes to warm up our singing voices, to the end, which culminated at Renee Provit’s lovely home for hot chocolate, Christmas goodies, and more camaraderie.
Stopping at peoples’ homes to bring music and joy to those who may not be able to access festive events during this time of short days and long nights was truly heartwarming. Many thanks to our intrepid bus driver, Dinah D, who safely navigated the dark Gabriola roads despite her boisterous, caroling passengers! All in all, a wonderful tradition that brings warmth and cheer into homes and provides an opportunity for people to come together for song and laughter.
